NORFOLK-Firefighters rescued a dog from the house that caught fire on Wednesday.

Norfolk firefighters were called to the house on B Avenue just before 11:00 a.m. and saw smoke coming from the second floor.

During the search, they found Buster and got him out.

The fire was contained to one room, said Battalion Chief Julian Williamson.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Meantime, the Red Cross will help the family - one adult and five children -with temporary housing, food and clothing.

Wililamson added that there was a smoke detector in the house but it wasn't working. Norfolk Fire and Rescue will install a smoke alarm in your home. Call 664-6616 to schedule an appointment. The department will supply one free of charge. Just complete the online form.
