UPDATE 2:12 p.m.: Virginia Beach Blvd. has reopened. The package at SPSA has been determined to be safe.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- A suspicious package found around 11:30 a.m. at the SPSA plant on Virginia Beach Blvd. caused traffic to be re-routed Thursday.

Virginia Beach Police spokeswoman Tonya Borman says all lanes in the 2000 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. are blocked.

Westbound traffic is being sent down Maxey. Eastbound traffic is being rerouted down Great Neck Road.

Borman says the package was found during the sorting process.

Fire officials say the bomb squad is on the scene.
