CHESAPEAKE -- Brian McKigney from Chesapeake is starting out the year with a big win in the Virginia Lottery. He won the $1 million prize in the Lottery's Right on the Money Scratcher game.

He bought the winning ticket at Farm Fresh, 1400 Kempsville Drive in Chesapeake.

He had the choice of taking the full $1 million prize over 25 years or a one-time cash option of $645,000 before taxes. He chose the cash option. The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Right on the Money features prizes ranging from $20 up to $2.5 million. Mr. McKigney is the eighth player to claim the second prize in Right on the Money, which means two $1 million tickets remain unclaimed. Three $2.5 million tickets also remain unclaimed.
