VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach man died after he was injured last week in an industrial accident.

Robert Devich, 64, died Sunday, said Tarah Kesterson, a spokeswoman with the state Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, which is investigating the incident.

Devich was injured around 9 a.m. Thursday when he was struck by a pipe at Baillio Sand, Kesterson said. Workers were relocating a slurry pipeline and the pipes fell off of the excavator.

According to Kesterson, Devich was taken to the hospital where he died Sunday.

Devich had worked at the company for 32 years.
