CORSICANA, Texas -- Police say a teen runaway is safe after he was found living inside a Walmart store for more than two days.
A press release from Chief Randy Bratton with the Corsicana Police Department stated officers were called to a home on Monday, July 28, where a woman told them her 14-year-old nephew had run away.
The woman said her nephew had been staying with her whilehis parents were out of town, and he had left her house while she was watching television.
In a phone call with the teen's mother, police learned that this wasn't the first time the boy had run away. His mother said he has been found hiding in abandoned houses, businesses and even creeks in previous cases.
About 54 hours after he was reported missing, police were called to a Walmart store just before 11 p.m. onWednesday, July 30. Employees told officers the boy had been hiding inside.
Chief Bratton says since the boy is a known runaway, Child Protective Services will not be involved.
Corsicana is about 55 miles southeast of Dallas.
