CHESAPEAKE --Awoman was killed and another driver was injured when a tractor trailer struck a car on I-664 South.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Va. State Police says she came across the crash around 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
She says the collision pushed the Nissan, which was broken down in the right shoulder lane with flashers on, off the road and into the woods. The driver, 27-year-old Crystal Autumn Burgsteiner of Newport News, was killed.
The truck driver, 47-year-old Christopher L. Johnson of Richmond, had a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of his rig, Sgt. Anaya stated.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
Traffic was backed up because one lane had been closed for the investigation and to clean up fuel that leaked from the rig, she added.
