HAMPTON -- For 30 years Deborah Taylor taught fourth and fifth grade in Hampton City Schools. Now she has a little retirement money after winning $1 million playing Mega Millions.

Taylor bought the winning ticket at Race Coast Mart at 1404 East Pembroke Avenue in Hampton.

'I was in disbelief,' she said, recalling the moment she discovered how much she'd won.

Taylor matched the first five numbers in the September 17 Mega Millions drawing. Normally, that would win $250,000, but Taylor spent an extra dollar for the Megaplier when she bought the ticket. That extra dollar increased her prize to $1 million.

The winning numbers were 6-15-27-31-39 and the Mega Ball number was 25.

The odds of winning the $250,000 prize in Mega Millions are 1 in 3,904,701.
