SUFFOLK -- Ten people are displaced after their Suffolk apartments caught fire early Wednesday morning.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Suffolk Police responded to a house fire which had been converted into three apartments at 7:36 A.M in the 200 block of Oak Street.

When crews arrived they found heavy fire and smoke from the frist floor and extending to the second floor.

Four adults and six children, all occupants of the three apartments, were able to escape unharmed.

The American Red Cross is assisting those who are displaced.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal's Office.
