NEWPORT NEWS -- Police arrested 28 people in a four-day prostitution sweep in Newport News this week.
According to Newport News Police spokesman Lou Thurston, the sweep involved operations on the streets, in hotels and via the internet.
The sweep involved members of the Newport News Police Department's Organized Crime Division and Community Response Teams, who took part in the Cook County Illinois Sheriff's Office seventh 'National Day of Johns Arrests.'
The name of the hotels involved were not released for investigative reasons, Thurston said.
