VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Chesapeake man has been charged after a dog in his care suffered severe trauma, including multiple broken bones, police said Tuesday.

Joseph Quinton Moxley, 25, of the 2600 block of Cecilia Terrace was charged with animal cruelty and released.

According to Virginia Beach Police, the owner of a 5-year-old Pomeranian called 911 and reported their dog was injured on August 11 while in Moxley's care.

The case remains under investigation.
