GLOUCESTER -- A Gloucester mother is speaking out after her daughter tried to commit suicide earlier this week.
Sally Epps says her daughter Amanda swallowed a bottle full of prescription pills on Tuesday; however, she told her mother afterward and was rushed to the hospital. Amanda survived and is now getting counseling.
Epps says Amanda wrote on her Facebook that she is giving up how and that there was no point in trying.
The mother claims her daughter was bullied by others at Gloucester High School. Epps says she is grateful for a second chance and hopes their story will encourage parents to be more involved before something like this happens.
'Amanda is going to be fine, but is the next child going to be okay?' she asked.
Gloucester Schools superintendent Ben Kiser says they are looking into Amanda's case.
