CHESAPEAKE-South Norfolk is celebrating its new library.
The ribbon will be cut at 1:00 p.m. Monday on the $2 million new South Norfolk Memorial Library.
Construction on the 17,000-square foot facility on Poindexter Street, in the Gateway at SoNo building, began in November 2012.
City officials say it has designated areas for all age groups, a history room, meeting rooms, an outside book drop off, a coffee cafe and more. It even has a drive-thru check out and return.
In 2011, City Council decided against locating the library elsewhere after the Gateway project faced possible foreclosure.
