CHESAPEAKE -- Four pets died and a family of seven was displaced after a house fire Saturday evening.

Firefighters said there was heavy damage to the one-story home in the 3100 block of Sir Kay Court.

Crews were sent to the fire at 6:38 p.m. When they go there seven minutes later, there was heavy smoke coming from the house.

The fire, which killed three dogs and one cat, was under control at 6:53 p.m.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause.

The American Red Cross is helping the family which includes two adults and five children.
