NORFOLK- The Navy released new details Saturday on putting deployments on hold as a result of sequestration.
In a news release, Navy officials stated next month, the deployments of up to six ships will be cancelled or deferred.
The USS Harry S. Truman deployment will continue to be delayed. The USNS Comfort, which just pulled into Norfolk this week, will not deploy to Central and South America as planned.
By the end of the year, at least three air wings will be reduced to minimum safe flying levels. The Navy also plans to shut down Carrier Air Wing Two next month.
