HAMPTON -- Thomas Nelson Community College is operating at a normal status following reports of an armed suspect on campus Monday afternoon.

Campus police received the call around 4:40 p.m. of the alleged armed man on the Hampton campus.

A shelter-in-place alert was sent out at 5:07 p.m. to students, faculty, and staff via text messages and email.

After searching the campus, police were unable to locate a suspect and the lockdown was lifted a short time later.

The incident is still under investigation.

CAMPUS SAFETY ALERT:
Hampton, Va Thomas Nelson Community College is operating at a normal status after reports of an alleged armed individual today. At approximately 4:40 p.m., Monday, January 13, Thomas Nelson Campus Law Enforcement received reports of an alleged armed man on the Hampton Campus.
Thomas Nelson Officials issued a shelter-in-place alert at 5:07 p.m. to students, faculty, and staff via multimedia channels including e2Campus text alert messaging and the College's desktop Alertus system.
The campus was secured by campus police. The College issued an all-clear alert at 5:54 p.m.
The incident is still under investigation.
