What is it? a hard plastic product that kind of looks like a big juicer or an upside down bowl. It helps cook your bacon in the shape of a bowl.
What does it claim? to be the easy way to make delicious, edible bowls out of bacon
Who tested it? Country musician, Virginia Beach resident and bacon lover Brian Grilli.
What Are The Instructions? It's pretty simple to use. You need to start with three strips of bacon. Cut one strip into two halves and create and 'X' formation over the top of the Perfect Bacon Bowl. Wrap another strip with the fat side up towards the top of the Perfect Bacon Bowl. The wrap should be positioned as low around the frame of the Perfect Bacon Bowl as possible. Make sure that you overlap the ends of this strip so that the pieces are connected. Wrap the third piece of bacon, also with the fat side up, around the same way you did the previous piece. for best results try to position the ends of this strip opposite of the other strip you wrapped. Keep in mind the size and structure of your bacon bowl may vary depending on the type of bacon used or the method of cooking used.
The Perfect Bacon Bowl can be used in the oven, toaster oven and microwave. Since we wanted our bacon done fast we choose the microwave. We quickly found that cooking times will vary depending on your microwave. Our tester's microwave was very strong. The instructions call for you to cook one Perfect Bacon Bowl in the microwave for two and a half minutes on high. The cooking times are based on a 1100 Watt Microwave and ours was a lot stronger. So our first Bacon Bowl got burnt. After a few more tries he found that with his microwave he only needed to cook it for a minute and forty-five seconds. To avoid splatter he made sure he put a paper towel over the bowl while it was cooking. It's important to note that sometimes a well done bowl will stick. If that happens first let it cool. Then use a nonabrasive kitchen utensil, like a toothpick, plastic fork, etc. and just pry the Bacon Bowl off if needed.
Once your Bacon Bowl comes out of the microwave you should let it sit so it can cool and crisp before removing it. Be sure to pour the bacon grease out of the channel at the bottom of the bowl before you start cooking any additional bowls.
If you are cooking your Bacon Bowl in the oven you need to cook it at 375 degrees for about 35 minutes. In the toaster oven you should cook it for about thirty minutes at 375 degrees.
Did it work? Our tester really liked it. It took him a few tries to get the perfect timing in his microwave, but once he did he was very impressed. He cooked up some eggs and put them inside his bacon bowl and said it was great. He like how easy and quick it was to use.
