ELIZABETH CITY -- Pharmacies in Elizabeth City have stepped up their security after two recent robberies, according to police.

On Wednesday, police say 22-year-old Christopher Stuart broke into Todd's Pharmacy through a drive-thru window around 5:30 a.m.

Stuart was found with cuts on his arms and 730 assorted pills in his pocket, according to police.

Stuart was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods, and misdemeanor injury to real property. He was placed on a $10,500 bond and awaits a July 10 hearing.

Three weeks ago, police say 36-year-old Justin Beathe was charged after he jumped the counter at a CVS on West Ehringhaus Street and stole illegal narcotics.
