NEWPORT NEWS-Home invaders threatened to hurt a child if the three adults inside didn't cooperate.

It happened around 10:00 p.m. in the 4300 block of Merlyn Walk Pl. in Newport News.

Police say the men forced their way into the home, forced the adults to the floor at gun point, covered their heads with blankets and demanded money and jewelry.

They threatened to hurt a children in the home if they didn't get what they wanted and they also hit a 60-year-old woman in the head with a gun, said police spokesman Harold Eley.

The suspects made off with cell phones, an iPad, cash and keys.

The victims couldn't tell police how many men were involved, but they do know the men had on black clothing with collars or hoods covering their faces and wore black gloves. One of the man had on white sneakers/shoes and the other suspect was wearing black sneakers/ shoes.
