UPDATE 11/20: The victim told 13News Now she will no longer be going to ATM's at night. She says she moved to the area about six weeks ago and was depositing her money earned as a server when she was attacked. 'Cash popped out and he grabbed it. Snatched it out of my hands and said, 'What the heck is this' That's when I reached down and put the car in gear and sped off.'
The victim spoke with 13News Now in hopes of catching the suspect. 'Try to stay as calm as possible. Give him what he wants and just try to get away as quickly as possible,' she said.
NEWPORT NEWS -- Police are looking for the man they say recently robbed a Newport News woman at gunpoint as she was depositing money at an ATM.
The victim told police she heard footsteps approaching her as she was making her transaction at the Wells Fargo bank at Thimble Shoals Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue on Nov. 9 around 10 p.m.
The victim gave the suspect cash and sped away. Police say the man ran in the opposite direction, stopped and fired rounds the victim's direction. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a gray hoodie, dark jeans and had a bandanna covering his face.
The robbery remains under investigation.
