NORFOLK -- Join Norfolk Botanical Garden and the Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia for the 2014 Virginia Honey Bee Festival on Saturday.
The event has an important message - the importance of having these bees and the need to protect them by encouraging people to incorporate bee-friendly plants in their landscapes and to use organic pesticides instead of pesticides that can kill them.
Enjoy children's activities, demonstrations, honey & bee vendors (including handmade jewelry and ceramics), refreshments, door prizes, live music, food, honey samples, a costume parade and much more! See the inside a real life bee hive and purchase bee-friendly plants.
Kids who come dressed as a bee get a free honey stick!
During your visit, learn about another pollinator that's dying off - the monarch butterfly.
The festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
