RICHMOND-- The Virginia State Board of Elections says that some voters, particularly seniors, are receiving phone calls informing themthey can vote over the phone.

This information is false. Virginia law does not permit voting through the telephone ore-mail, officials stated.

Any voter who receives a call of this natureshould ask for the name, phone number, and organization making thecallandthen contact the State Board of Elections at 1-800-552-745.

The calls may violatestate and federal laws and the State Board of Elections will alert law enforcement authorities as needed.

Apart from voting at the polls on Election Day, eligible Virginians may vote byabsentee ballot by mail or in-person at the registrar's office or other authorizedlocations.
