CHESAPEAKE Chesapeake City Park and businesses in the Yupo Court area of Greenbrier were evacuated Monday because of a natural gas leak.

Firefighters responded to 901 Hollowell Lane, which is the natural gas fueling site for Chesapeake Solid Waste vehicles.

According to Captain Scott Saunders, firefighters found a leaking natural gas tank.

Once the leak was secured, The Chesapeake Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Team used gas detection meters to ensure that the evacuated areas were safe to reoccupy.

The cause of the leak is currently under investigation.
