ELIZABETH CITY -- Elizabeth City State University police continue to search for student Terry Leathers who hasn't been seen on campus since Thursday night.

'I actually just saw the poster that he was missing, and I was like, 'Wow, that's crazy,' sophomore Kiera Sanders told 13News Now Saturday. 'You would never think on a college campus that would happen.'

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for 22-year-old Leathers, a Mass Communications major.

The alert said he may be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

'I can't even imagine what, what happened, where he would just go missing. It's really sad,' said classmate Jamila Fountain. 'He was really friendly, really spoke to everybody. He was always, 'Hey, Jamila' give me a hug, everything like that.'

Leathers is 5'7' tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He has short, black hair and brown eyes. The last time anyone saw Leathers, he was wearing a dark blue and black shirt and light-colored jeans. He had a black and gray backpack with him.
