TRUSSVILLE, AL - Authorities in Alabama say a small plane from Virginia Beach to Birmingham crashed Thursday.
The plane made an emergency landing in Trussville, Alabama after having mechanical problems around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Trussville Police Department said pilot Kent Ewing was able to bring the single engine aircraft down in a field on private property and it came to rest in some trees between a barn and utility lines.
According to police, Ewing said he, his son and his son's girlfriend were flying to Birmingham for Thanksgiving.
The police chief said the three were okay - reporting just bumps and bruises.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
