PORTSMOUTH -- The Coast Guard medevaced a 68-year-old man Wednesday from a 200-foot fishing vessel called the Tidelands near Cape Charles.

A crewmember aboard the boat contacted the Coast Guard around 3 p.m., stating the man had suffered an injury to his hand.

The Coast Guard launched a response boat from Coast Guard Station Cape Charles to assist.

The crew arrived on scene, transferred him aboard the Coast Guard boat and took him to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Coast Guard Station Cape Charles.
