NORFOLK -- For the first time since the Navy turned over the Battleship Wisconsin, you can get a look at parts of the ship never open to the public before.

'The tours will pick up but as you heard, as you went through the experience, we are doing this differently. It's not going to be an open house. We are going to take care and preserve this ship so as you go through it you are going to be led by a guide who knows the ship,' said Hank Lynch, executive director of Nauticus.

As sections of the ship are environmentally approved, they will open up for tours in the future.

'We just think it's a great, great thing for us to try to preserve for your grandchildren's grandchildren someday and to see what the United States is capable of as a naval power,' said Project Manager John Elliker.

Tours begin Tuesday. Pay the $11.95 to get into Nauticus and that will cover the Wisconsin tour. A guided tour of six other areas will cost $29.95.
