HOUSTON (KHOU) Foggy conditions caused nearly 100 vehicles to collide on Interstate 10 between Houston and Beaumont Thanksgiving morning.Two Pearland residents were killed in the crash, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happenedonI-10 East near Hamshire Road around8 a.m.,causingthe highway to shut down in both directions.

Acadian Ambulance spokewoman Denise Richter said, in addition to the fatality, at least48 people were transported to the hospital for treatment andseveral werecritically injured,according to KFDM.

I-10 West reopened shortly after noon, but I-10 East will remain closed at least another eight to 10 hours, according to officials.
