SOUTHAMPTON CO. - Authorities are investigating two home burglaries and one business break-in in Southampton County.
Right now, the crimes discovered Wednesday don't appear to be connected, investigators said.
Someone got into Southampton Veterinary Clinic on Delaware Road after it had closed on Feb. 12. A dog crate, a gallon of shampoo, a gallon of conditioner and a grooming kit were discovered missing when workers arrived on the 13th.
Also on the 13th, thieves got into a home on Monroe Road in Franklin area through a back door. A gun, cash and iPod were taken.
Southampton County Sheriff's deputies also responded to a home burglary on Barrow Road in the Courtland area. Entry was made through a side door and the burglars took about $6000.00 worth of jewelry.
Major Gene Drewery said a neighbor saw a Ford Explorer-type black SUV, believed to have Virginia license plates, pull in his driveway and a man wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and a black cap knocked at his door. There were two large dogs inside barking and the man got in the vehicle and left, he added.
