SUFFOLK - Officials say the Mills E. Godwin Courts Complex will reopen on Thursday, July 17, for regularly scheduled hours of operation.

Air conditioning problems Tuesday forced Suffolk to cancel cases scheduled for Circuit, General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts for the day and Wednesday.

City officials said there's a mechanical issue with the AC unit at the Mills E. Godwin Courts Complex on M. Main Street and it was operating on generator power.

General District Court cases were canceled for the day, but workers were still on duty.

The failure comes during a heat wave in Hampton Roads. Highs are expected to reach the lower to mid 90s today through Saturday. Humidity is also going to be up. The heat index values should hit 95-105 for much of the region, according to the 13News Now Weather Team.

For Circuit Court, call 514-7800; for Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, call 514-7794 to reschedule. For General District Court cases scheduled for Tuesday, the contact number is 514-4822.
