NORFOLK--Navy crews fought a small fire aboard the USS McFaul Monday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire-Rescue said the fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. in 2nd deck berthing area of USS McFaul, which is docked at Marine Hydraulics in Norfolk.

Williamson said the fire started from a small electrical heater in the ductwork of the berthing area.

Navy crews were able to get the fire out before fire crews arrived, Williamson said.

Fire crews helped with smoke removal and ventilation.

Two firefighters were transported to a local hospital for possible heat-related injuries.
