TEMPERANCEVILLE -- State police charged Ronnie Lenwood Washington of the 8200 block of Stumptown Road with Driving Under the Influence this weekend.

Troopers said Washington hit another car on Route 695, west of Route 701 Saturday. 81-year-old Lenwood Bowen, who was a passenger in that second car, died Sunday as a result of his injuries.

Police said Washington was heading east on Route 695 in a Ford Mustang when he lost control of the car and crossed into the westbound lanes. The Mustang hit a Lexus, driven by 40-year-old Melissa Johnson of the 25400 block of Saxis Road.

Paramedics took Johnson,to Shore Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other emergency workers took Bowen to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland, due to prior medical conditions. He died there.

Washington was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.
