NORFOLK -- On September 2, 2014, around 11:40 P.M., a call came in for an attempted robbery to a cab driver in the 300 block of E. Little Creek Road. The cab driver advised he was responding to a call for a fare, when two unknown black males approached his car. One of the males broke out the driver side window, and the cab driver was able to drive away in his vehicle. The suspects then fired gunshots at the fleeing vehicle.

James Miles just started driving a cab three weeks ago and he said taxi cab drivers got a text warning them of the attempted robbery.

He admits the news of the crime is frightening and if he is uncertain about a call he said, 'Use your own judgement. If it doesn't look right you don't go in certain areas you don't go.'

He also gave some more insight as to what he does for his safety, 'Pray, just pray and hope that it doesn't happen to me.'

The new cabbie said taxi cab drivers work hard for their money and he said the men who shot at the cabbie were cowards and he hopes they're caught and prosecuted.

In the meantime the driver who was held up did sustain some non-life threatening injuries from the broken glass.

The first suspect is described as being approximately 5'10', athletic build, with shoulder length dreads, wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants, and a white cloth over this face.

The second suspect is described as being approximately 5'7', tall with a stocky build, dark ball cap, wearing a white t-shirt, and dark pants.
