HAMPTON--Medical personnel from Langley Air Force Base are returning Tuesday afternoon from humanitarian missions and exercises in Peru.
Members of the 633rd Air Base Wing Medical Group worked as part of a Health Response Team to provide rural Peruvians with basic health care.
In June, Peruvians began lining up for appointments to receive care in pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, gynecology and dental following the opening of the mobile hospital.
The U.S. Southern Command-sponsored exercise offers U.S. and Peruvian military medical personnel to train and work together while providing free medical services to about 30,000 Peruvians over the coming two months.
The three-month New Horizons 2012 exercise culminated in U.S. military engineers, veterinarians, medics and other professions practiced responding to a simulated earthquake and an aircraft crash
