HAMPTON -- A group of furloughed government workers from NASA-Langley are making good use of their time by doing volunteer work.

About a half a dozen volunteers are renovating a wing at Yorkminster Presbyterian Church in York County.

They're updating four classrooms for the Youth Ministry and sprucing up a fellowship hall that will be made available to the community.

Bruce Jackson is one of those who has rolled up his sleeves to volunteer.

He's a NASA aerospace engineer and long time member of the church. 'It's kind of fun when a group of people come together in unusual times. We kind of build off of each others' enthusiasms,' said Jackson.
