HAMPTON, VA-The Hampton Pirates decided to go in another direction.DonovanRose is out as their head football coach.A formerPirates player and long time assistant, hewas 25 and 30 during his time at the helm at Hampton. No playoff appearances. This season alone they started off 0-5 and finished up 4-8. Rose will be reassigned within another department at the school.

His replacement is Connell Maynor from Winston Salem State.Maynor has been therethe past four seasons.Prior to that, he served as offensive coordinator at Fayetteville State. Heled the Rams to a 45-6 record and a 29-2 mark in the CIAA.The 44year oldled the Rams to three straight CIAA championships; three straight appearances in the NCAA Div. II playoffs; two Super Region One titles; an NCAA Semifinal appearance in 2011; and an NCAA Div. II National Championship appearance and runner-up title.
