PORTSMOUTH-- Police are investigating a Saturday morning crash that killed two teens and injured another.
On Monday afternoon, police released the identifies of the victims. 16-year old Dallas Newbill and 16-year old Jacquelyn Luther, both of Portsmouth, died as a result of the crash.
Officers were called to the area of 2690 Elmhurst Lane, near the Hampton Roads Regional Jail entrance for a single-vehicle accident just after midnight Saturday.
When they got there, they found two teens, a 17 year-old male and a 16 year-old female, had been ejected from a red Volvo. A second 16 year-old female was pinned in the car.
Medics pronounced the two girls deceased at the scene. The boy was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he is in stable condition.
The boy who was injured is Jojo Gargaro. His father, Joey Gargaro, tells 13News his son is in critical condition. He's trying to stay positive.
'He's got a lot of internal injuries. I think he's going to be okay eventually, but he's got a long road,' said Gargaro.
Parents of the teens say the kids and the families were all close and everyone's praying Jojo pulls through.
The Volvo struck a telephone pole and numerous trees in the area. The cause of the crash has not been determined, however it appears speed was a factor.
Because two of the occupants were ejected, the positions of each person in the vehicle has not been determined.
The vehicle was registered to a family member of Gargaro.
A memorial service for Dallas Newbill will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth.
No word yet on services for Luther.
