CHARLOTTESVILLE -- Two armed men, who allegedly tried to rob two University of Virginia students Tuesday, were badly beaten by the victims they targeted, according to police.

Police charged Johnny Calderon, Jr., 19, and Gerald Allen, 18, of Charlottesville with two counts of attempted robbery.

Police say when officers arrived on scene, they found both suspects with severe injuries.

Calderon and Allen were taken into custody and are being held at the Charlottesville Albermarle Regional Jail.
