VIRGINIA BEACH -- Nearly 100 people were captured and arrested in Virginia Beach Police Department's annual 'Locktoberfest' warrant sweep on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The goal of the citywide multi-jurisdictional law enforcement warrant sweep is to locate and apprehend persons wanted on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.

Officers hit the streets with over 700 warrants in hand.

Officials say additional arrests are anticipated and they add that as in past sweeps, many wanted persons voluntarily surrender knowing police are on the lookout for them.
