NORFOLK -- The Chesapeake Bay Foundation gave a water tour Thursday along the Lafayette River to encourage people to volunteer for the upcoming Clean The Bay Day.

Along the banks there was ample evidence of why people need to pay attention to the trash they discard. Bottles, cans, clothing and debris wash ashore and pollute the banks of our waterways. These same waterways feed into the Chesapeake Bay.

Chris Moore, a scientist with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, told 13News how volunteers can help on Saturday, June4th.

'We have such a great turnout each year,' said Moore.

Last year about 7,000 volunteers turned out for Clean the Bay Day.
