ISLE OF WIGHT -- The father at the center of a child abuse case involving twin baby girls has been charged with the murder of one of them.
After consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney's office, a warrant has been secured against Robert E. Molinski charging him with one count of First Degree Murder in the death of his daughter, 4 month old Piper Molinski. He is being held on no bond.
The condition of the other baby, Ella Molinski, at CHKD was unavailable. On Tuesday morning she was in critical but stable condition.
The four-month-old girl died from blunt force trauma to the head and her injuries came at the hands of her parents, Isle of Wight County authorities said Wednesday.
Her parents were arraigned Wednesday morning on child abuse charges. Mary Webb said she will try to hire an attorney while her boyfriend, Robert Molkinski, requested a public defender.
The couple, the twins and Webb's four-year-old daughter were in the grandfather's Smithfield home when police were called on Sunday.
Investigators say the girls had nearly identical bruises to their heads, fractured skulls and broken ribs. They say Piper also had burn marks on the soles of her feet.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kristin Wilda told WVEC.com that the grandfather has been questioned extensively and is not a suspect at this point.
Webb also remains in jail without bond.
