VIRGINIA BEACH -- The United Football League announced on Saturday that the fall 2012 season has been suspended.

The remaining games are expected to be played in spring 2013.

This is the fourth season for the UFL which has franchises in Las Vegas, Omaha, Sacramento and Virginia Beach.

'Because of a lack of sufficient funds due to the high cost of workmen's compensation insurance and other elements, we are postponing the second half of the season,' said Paul Pelosi, spokesman for the UFL ownership group.

Officials with the Virginia Destroyers say the organization is working on a plan to handle ticket refund requests.
