UPDATE 2/25: David J. Ghi was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge H. Thomas Padrick to life imprisonment plus 25 years for forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, and custodial indecent liberties. No portion of Ghi's sentence was suspended.
VIRINIA BEACH--A man wanted for the alleged sexual abuse of a child has been arrested in South Carolina and returned to Virginia Beach
David Joseph Ghi, 32, of the 3100 block of S. Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Forcible Sodomy, and Indecent Liberties.
On Wednesday, February 27th, the Virginia Beach Police Special Victims Unit received a call from a woman saying that her child had been sexually abused by Ghi. The victim was in the care of the Ghi at the time of the abuse according to the woman. Child Protective Services was notified and assisted with the investigation.
Detectives say the abuse occurred at two separate locations in Virginia Beach and another in Chesapeake. The suspect was apprehended in South Carolina and extradited back to Virginia Beach to face the charges. Charges may be pending in Chesapeake.
He's due in Va. Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for a determination of counsel hearing on March 28.
