CHESTERFIELD CO. -- Chesterfield Police say new charges have been filed against all four of the men facing hazing charges in the drowning deaths of two Virginia State University students.

James A. Mackey Sr., Eriq K. Benson, Charles E. Zollicoffer II, and Cory D. Baytop, who is from Newport News, have been indicted with involuntary manslaughter.

Police say seven students were trying to walk through the Appomattox River to complete their initiation into an organization known as Men of Honor, when the drowning deaths occurred.

The incident claimed the lives of Marvell Edmondson of Portsmouth and Jauwan Holmes of Williamsburg.

The four suspects are scheduled to appear in court on June 30 for hazing charges.

Benson has since been released on bond and Baytop is still being held at the Chesterfield County Jail.

Mackey is being held at Riverside Regional Jail on unrelated charges.

Through his attorney, Zollicoffer has been advised to turn himself in, but he is currently wanted by police.
