CHESAPEAKE -- Two adults were displaced after an early morning fire destroyed a Hickory area home.

On Saturday, fire crews responded to a call around 2:43 a.m. about a structure fire in the 2000 block of Ballahack Road.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 2:51 a.m. and discovered a house fully engulfed in flames.

No one was inside at the time.

A spokesperson with the fire department reports that two adult residents were out of town when the fire occurred.

The home is considered a total loss and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
