NEWPORT NEWS-Emergency crews responded to the scene of a gas line break in front of the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport Tuesday.

According to an airport official, a contractor for Dominion Power hit the line on Bland Blvd. and Virginia Natural Gas responded to make repairs.

Dominion spokeswoman Bonita Harris told WVEC.com, 'The crew was working on an underground cable to improve reliability. Unfortunately, the lines were mismarked, off by about 20 feet. So when the crew began digging where we had been cleared to dig, one of them hit the gas line. '

Other than police directing traffic, no other problems were reported in front of the terminal.
