NORFOLK--Crews responded to two fires overnight that displaced over a dozen people.

The first happened just before 12:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 9600 block of 11th Bay Street in Ocean View.

Battalion Chief Tull advised that initial reports indicate the fire was caused by a faulty water heater in the apartment.

There were no reports of injuries, but one person was displaced by the fire.

Just before 5:00 a.m., firefighters also responded to a two-alarm fire at off base military housing in the 8300 block of Guam Parkway.

When units arrive on scene, heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming the structure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no one was injured.

12 people were forced from the affected homes.
