NORFOLK -- Norfolk is home to the world's largest naval base. That means thousands of vehicles pass through the gates of Naval Station Norfolk each day.

Hampton Roads Transit is holding seminars Wednesday for commuters to learn about its Traffix programs - other ways they can get to the base without driving their vehicles. Officials say it's an effort to help reduce congestion. Also on the agenda is giving information about the benefits of getting an E-Z pass since tolls are now in place at the Downtown and Midtown tunnels.

Speakers will include William Harrell, HRT's president and CEO, Herb Pittman, COMNAVREG MIDLANT to discuss the transportation incentive program and Julie Timm, who will discuss the latest developments in efforts to get light rail to the base.

Hampton Roads Transit continues to study potential routes to link The Tide light rail with Naval Station Norfolk. Learn more about that project here.
