HAMPTON -- A man was in critical but stable condition Tuesday after being shot Monday night in Hampton.

Emergency personnel responded to the call near Libby Street and W. Kelly Avenue in Phoebus around 10:21 p.m. and found a man in the road who'd been shot in his upper body, said Hampton Police spokeswoman Cpl. Mary Shackelford.

Anita Mann said she was sitting on the couch in her home when she heard five gunshots.

'His mother and sisters were very hysterical, like any mother would be,' said Mann.

Mann says she moved into the neighborhood in November 2013. Police have not released a suspect description or possible motive.

Anyone with information should call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
