VIRGINIA BEACH -- 13 adults and 4 children are having to find a new place to live after an apartment fire in Virginia Beach Sunday morning damaged four apartments, causing them to be condemned.

Fire units responded to the 700 block of Emerald Lake Drive just before 8 a.m. and found flames coming through the roof of an apartment building.

Everyone got out of the building safely, although there was a report of one minor burn injury to a civilian that was treated on the scene. A fire department spokesperson said no firefighters were hurt.

The Red Cross was called and is helping four of the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by a fire marshal.
