SMITHFIELD -- Police have recovered the body of a boater who went missing Wednesday morning on a branch of the Pagan River.

Three teens reportedly entered the water in a canoe early Wednesday morning, and when it capsized, only two made it back to shore.

The two teens called for help once they made it to shore.

The victim was 17-year old Vincent Alberghine.

Marine police and the Coast Guard conducted a search for him. The search was in water near the Smithfield Center on North Church Street.

The teens were not wearing life jackets. Police have not said if alcohol was a factor.
